CrownBet offers ‘money back’ promotions on major sporting events, and racing meets. The downside is these promotions are not as frequent as the likes of Sportsbet, William Hill, or Ladbrokes and overwhelmingly ‘money back’ means refunds on losing bets in the for of bonus bets, rather than actual cash back. That said, unlike many other leading bookmakers, CrownBet is renowned for their giving periodic (re)deposit bonuses for existing customers.
In addition to their promotions, betting with CrownBet also enables punters to receive CrownBet Rewards points. CrownBet Rewards is a loyalty system whereby you earn points for bets placed which you can then cash in for bonus bets or other rewards such as gift cards. Whilst for entry level punters, this program isn’t exactly a game changer, and may not compensate for a lack of real money back promotions, for larger volume punters the rewards are quite generous

Based on our cross sport analysis, we found the odds for CrownBet (with an average bookmaker margin, or ‘house edge’ of 5.2%) to be higher than the market average for online Australian bookmakers (4.7%). Remember that for punters, a lower bookmaker margin is preferable.
Our analysis found that CrownBet has a reasonable coverage of sports types when compared to other Australian bookmakers. Interestingly, whilst their combined total coverage may not be as high as other market leaders, they do offer some sports not covered by their competitors. When it comes to the range of bet types (eg. different line bets, player specials, and exotics) on individual sports, CrownBet is a market leader.
The Crownbet user interface, for both the mobile app and desktop offerings, has been recently redesigned and is extremely visually appealing and responsive.
That said, whilst their desktop offering combines form and function well, their mobile app can at times focus too heavily on the visual aspects at the expense of usability (they for instance are the only bookmaker to display sports markets as a grid of icons, rather than a list). The mobile app also responds differently depending on whether you tap or hold down on a button, something that can take a little getting used to.
Crownbet is quickly establishing itself as a market leader in the Australian online sports betting market, offering both a strong range of markets, features, and promotional offers. This, coupled with their great rewards program and regular (re)deposit bonuses are great reasons to join. However, if you are only interested in placing small bets on popular markets at competitive odds, you might want to pair CrownBet up with another online bookmaker.
